Code of Breathwork Practice

Professional Breathwork practitioners, as members of this association agree to abide by these principles:

  • To respect the essential humanity, worth and dignity of all people and promote this value in their work.
  • To recognise and respect diversity among people, including other philosophies of approach to health and wellbeing, and oppose discrimination and judgemental behaviour.
  • To respect the privacy of clients and preserve the confidentiality of information acquired in the course of their work.
  • To maintain and constantly develop their competence throughout their professional lives.
  • To promote client autonomy and encourage clients to make responsible decisions on their own behalf.
  • To set and maintain a professional relationship with all clients within the professional context.
  • To avoid exploitation of a client, past or present, financially, emotionally, sexually or in any other way.
  • To practice only when in sound condition and not when impaired by emotional issues, illness, alcohol, drugs or for any other reason.
  • To avoid implying or offering guarantees of healing.
  • To be aware of professional capacity and refer-on accordingly.
  • To adopt the following procedure for a Breathwork consultation:
(a) Assessment interview,  
(b) Explanation of the breathing technique.
  • To align with the spirit of and abide by the rules of the association.
